We’ve begun getting weekly updates from the Antares factory to show us the progress on Sorella. The first update didn’t have a whole lot of interior shots that would be exciting to anyone except us, but the second update shows some pieces starting to come together. Below, you can see that there is actually a boat with two hulls, and we’re having fun identifying all the parts in this construction state.

The above shot is our head being lowered into place. I’ll be calling it the bathroom. As you can see from the pic below, it’s a far cry from the spa bathroom we put in our house in St. Louis, with its walk-in shower, air bath and heated floor, but let’s not feel sorry for ourselves, right? Our new tub (the ocean) will fit a lot more than two people.

These photos include shots from two weeks of updates. The blue you see is the plastic covering to protect the beautiful cherry wood. Clockwise from top left: L-shaped settee base in the salon; settee frame in place on the base; kitchen cabinets (the center two will be below the sink); fridge cabinet (the left section is the freezer, which is accessed from above. the curved cutouts will be adjacent to the stairs up to the salon); salon to starboard cabin (this view will be obstructed with a large cabinet, so it took us a moment to figure out what it was–the shape of the door gave it away); from galley/kitchen to port forward cabin; from port forward cabin to the guest head; nav station (we have no idea what we’re looking at there, but are taking their word for it).

These are the water and fuel tanks, which are constructed on premise at the boat yard’s stainless shop. The image on the left shows them upended, so what you see facing forward is the top. There are dividers in each tank, which act as baffles so the liquid doesn’t slosh around as much or as loudly (according to Stephen, and it sounded plausible to me.)

The latest update is that Sorella should splash in late November, so we expect these reports will get a lot more exciting as we go along!
